Plant Inspection for Safe Production
through Precise Measurement and Assessment.
The DGUV Regulation 3 specifies the initial inspection as well as the regular re-inspection of electrical systems and machinery.
This must be carried out by an electrical expert who is qualified according to the technical rules for operational safety (TRBS 1203).
Regular and professional safety inspections bring many benefits. Not only can hazards for employees be avoided, but also downtime and standstill times due to defective machinery. In addition, the inspection serves as evidence that the system complies with general safety regulations and construction standards.
The safety inspection of electrical systems and machinery consists of several individual tests. For machinery, the product standard specifies the exact scope of the inspection. If such a standard does not exist, the test steps must be carried out according to the applicable standard:
- Checking the technical documentation
- Condition and identification of cables and wires
- Condition and labeling of components
- Integrity of enclosures
- Continuity of protective conductors
- Protection by automatic disconnection (fuse, circuit breaker, RCD, etc.)
- Insulation resistance
- Leakage currents
- Dielectric strength test
- Protection against residual voltage
- Test triggering of safety devices
- Functional testing of sensors and actuators
- Preparation of test protocols and reports
- Discussion of results
- Support in rectifying deficiencies
Initial and Repeat Inspections
of machines and systems are primarily carried out according to the following standards:
- DIN EN 60204-1 (VDE 0113-1)
- DIN EN 61439-1 (VDE 0660-600-1)
- DIN VDE 0100-600 (VDE 0100-600)
- DIN VDE 0105-100 (VDE 0105-100)
